We Believe Anita Hill 20th Anniversary Party
More than 500 people came out for the 20th Annual I Believe Anita Hill Party.
For the past 20 years, S. Carolina women have been honoring Professor Hill’s contribution to women’s right to be free of sexual harassment in the workplace. This year, for the 20th Anniversary, Professor Hill for the first time attended the party (on October 20) and the following day she was a keynote for the annual S. Carolina Women Lawyers Association Conference.

Event Details:
At the party, Professor Hill was on hand all evening to shake hands, sign copies of her new book, Reimaging Equality: Stories of Gender, Race and Finding Home, and make remarks.
The audience cheered as she encouraged them to keep up the fight for equality in the work force and vigilance against sexual harassment.

3Plus International Event
Thirty-one women gathered in New York City for 3Plus International’s U.S. premier and signature mini mentoring event. They came from Philadelphia, Boston, New Jersey and the Big Apple.
The room was abuzz with energy. There were women in finance, medicine, publishing, marketing, coaching, and the twitterati were there as well. Ages ranged from early twenties to late sixties. Countries of origin spanned the globe.

I get a little nostalgic in October remembering my late parents whose birthdays were this month. So when Bonnie McEwan, president of the public interest communications firm Make Waves, suggested I write about how people in middle management can be leaders, I chuckled to think of one of my father’s favorite sayings:

She's Doing It: Brooke Axtell – Employing Every Medium to Break The Silence of Sexual Abuse

You may have heard of the name Brooke Elise Axtell through her wonderful work as an artist and activist to eradicate sexual abuse. If not, I predict you will very soon.
A survivor of sexual assault, abuse and domestic minor sex-trafficking, Brooke uses the power of her beautiful and passionate voice through her numerous talents to bring her own healing message to others.
She is not only a musician and an award-winning writer but through powerful, multi-media presentations, she has a unique way of articulating the importance of feminist leadership in changing how culture deals with sexual abuse. Brooke’s work is an inspiring example of No Excuses Power Tool #8, Employ every Medium. And she is the focus of this week’s She’s Doing It.
